How to Care for Your Leather

Handmade tan leather long wallet on linen

Genuine leather is made to last, and with a little care it only gets better with age.

  • Keep it dry. Avoid prolonged contact with water. If your piece gets wet, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and let it dry naturally, away from heaters or direct sun.
  • Feed it now and then. Apply a small amount of natural leather balm or conditioner occasionally to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out.
  • Let it breathe. Store leather in a dry place, ideally in a cotton bag rather than plastic.
  • Embrace the patina. Crazy Horse and vintage-finish leathers change color where they are handled most. This is the character of the leather, not wear.
